Why virtual Hand Therapy works

An expert Hand Therapist, wherever you are

Virtual Hand Therapy is not a compromise. For the majority of conditions and at many stages of recovery, it is a clinically sound and highly effective way to access the highest level of specialist Hand Therapy care at a time and place that suits you.

Structured clinical protocols bring the same diagnostic rigour and treatment quality of an in-person appointment to a video consultation. Experience across the NHS, private practice and international clinical education means a wide range of upper limb conditions can be assessed and treated effectively without being in the same room.

Northern Ireland

Local patients, flexible access

For patients across Belfast and Northern Ireland that prefer the convenience of a video appointment, including those unable to attend the clinic in-person due to work, mobility or caring responsibilities.

Across the UK

Access to a genuine expert

Specialist Hand Therapy expertise is not evenly distributed. Wherever you are in the UK, a video appointment with Ms Razo gives you direct access to a highly experienced clinician without the need to travel or join a waiting list.

International

World-class care, no borders

Ms Razo provides virtual appointments to patients internationally. Whether you are an expat, a patient seeking a second opinion or someone in a country with limited access to specialist Hand Therapy. Expert CHT level care is available to you.

Rheumatology & connective tissue

Hand, wrist and upper limb care for rheumatological conditions

Ms Razo has worked with rheumatological and hypermobility conditions throughout her career, including at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust with patients referred by Consultant Rheumatologists or GPs. For these long-term conditions, where joint protection and the right exercises matter more than hands-on treatment, virtual Hand Therapy is a strong option, particularly for anyone without specialist services nearby.

Established expertise

Helping build virtual care in HSC Northern Ireland

Ms Razo contributed to the development of virtual Hand Therapy services within HSC Northern Ireland from 2020 and has been providing virtual Hand Therapy since early in its adoption.

Virtual care is not new ground here — it has been part of the practice from the start, with assessment and treatment protocols refined for video consultation.

What is possible via video

More than you might expect

A significant proportion of Hand Therapy assessment and treatment can be delivered effectively via video. Ms Razo will always advise you honestly if an in-person appointment is needed for your specific presentation.

A thorough evaluation of your condition including a structured clinical history, symptoms, pain and functional ability. Ms Razo uses structured assessment protocols adapted for video consultation to ensure diagnostic accuracy.

A clear explanation of your diagnosis, what may be causing your symptoms and what needs to happen to resolve them. For many conditions this can be established accurately without hands-on examination.

Therapeutic exercises and activities targeting mobility plus strengthening as well as functional retraining. Hand Therapy programmes are demonstrated live and provided in writing for you to follow between sessions.

Advice on off-the-shelf specialty supports and orthoses available, with precise guidance on fit and wearing schedule. Custom splinting can be arranged at a subsequent in-person appointment, if required.

Detailed guidance on modifying work tasks, daily activities and posture to reduce load on the affected structure and support recovery.

Progress reviews following surgery or injury where hands-on treatment is not required at that stage. Rehabilitation progression, scar management guidance and return-to-activity planning.

Patient reviews

Real virtual Hand Therapy results

After surgery for a displaced metacarpal fracture, I had no access to rehab support where I was living and Michelle made such a huge difference. Even though we were in completely different time zones, she was always quick to respond and supportive whenever I had questions or worries.

Els R.Post-surgical · Metacarpal fracture · International

Michelle easily accommodated me with online calls over Zoom, even though we had a 6 hour time zone difference. From having serious numbness in my hands to now having gained my hand strength back, no more tingles, no more night hand pains!

Bronwyn D.Carpal tunnel · 6-hour time zone difference

I basically seen a number of Physios, osteo and had an MRI — nobody really gave me a solution. From day 1 with Michelle I felt like this was different. She specialises in only the hand to shoulder area and was confident she could get me sorted. She is a true specialist.
