Ms Michelle Razo delivered two advanced Hand Therapy courses at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) in Doha, Qatar on 19 September 2025, teaching specialist clinical skills to a highly experienced group of upper limb therapists.
The courses
First Contact Rehabilitation of the TFCC
This session focused on the clinical assessment and early management of triangular fibrocartilaginous complex (TFCC) injuries. The course covered evidence-based assessment tools and clinical tests used to diagnose TFCC pathology, alongside rehabilitation treatment protocols designed to achieve recovery without surgical intervention.
Interpreting X-rays in Hand Therapy
The second course provided a structured approach to reading and interpreting plain X-rays within the context of Hand Therapy practice. Participants worked through a systematic framework for analysing radiographic findings relevant to common hand and wrist conditions, equipping them to integrate imaging interpretation into their clinical reasoning.
The attendees
One of the most notable aspects of the teaching day was the calibre of the group. Attendees included Occupational Therapists from a wide range of backgrounds and specialties, among them a significant number of Certified Hand Therapists — the largest concentration of CHTs Ms Razo has encountered in a single unit outside of the United States. Their expertise contributed to a rich exchange of ideas throughout both sessions, elevating the courses well beyond a standard training format.
